Machine Fact File

Have you ever wondered how to use a screwdriver? A screw driver is a machine (tool) used for turning or removing screws. A common screwdriver has a shaft, a tip and a handle. The tip is the part that is inserted into the screw head to turn it.

To use a screwdriver, you have to place the screw at the screwdriver tip and hold both screw and tip together with the fingers of one hand. Apply very little pressure on the screwdriver while turning in a clockwise direction until the screw reaches the wood. Put a little pressure to the tip anticlockwise until the screw comes up towards you. Now you know how to use a screwdriver.

What is life without screwdrivers?

It would be harder to live because you can’t screw things on (wall and roof). Without screwdrivers our lives would be harder because we couldn’t tighten bolts without a screwdriver.Without screwdriver you couldn’t tighten TV's,laptops, computers, tables and chairs.

10 Facts about screw driver

1.The first screw driver is older than 1500's
2.Screw predates screwdriver
3.A screwdriver uses torque to tighten screws and bolts
4.The flat head and the slotted screwdriver was the first known heads for a screw driver
5.A traveling salesman invented the Phillips or cruciform
head screwdriver that we are so familiar with today in the
early 1900's.
6.The screwdriver is made up of a head or tip, which is
fitted to the screw or bolt.
7.In America the first handheld screwdriver appeared on the
market in the 1800's.
8.General Motors used the cruciform head screw in 1936 on
the Cadillac.
9.There are specialized types of screwdrivers for special jobs. For
instance, there are very small screwdrivers that are used
for working on computers and PC boards. They are very small
and have a special shaft for applying the proper small
amounts of torque.
10.There are several screwdriver types, including: flat-
head, cabinet, Phillips, Frearson, Torx, clutch-head, hex,
Bristol multi-spline and square-tipped.

Careers in science

Geologist

1.What training do you need to be a Geologist? to be a geologist you have to prepare in high school, although high schools don't usually offer devoted geology course. You may take computer courses to formulate sample analysis and intelligence processing obligation when you're a geologist. You have to earn the bachelor's degree, the course load will include meteorology, mineralogy, tectonics, stratiography and hydrology most programs also have you participate in one or more field study courses.Third one you have to earn the Masters Degree and you have to obtain your license.

2.What do you do for an average day on the job?
A typical day starts with driving approximately 40 minutes to my office where I will work closely with my boss, co-managers and staff that happen to be in the office.  Many of my staff members are based out of different offices, so I don’t see them every day.  I usually start my day with checking emails, where I receive the bulk of my assignments from upper management and receive notifications from staff on any administrative and technical issues or information.
Most of my day is spent on administrative tasks, problem solving, communicating our efforts to others, organizing, planning and evaluating Section processes, and developing employees.  Administrative tasks include approving time off requests from employees, reviewing budgets and expenditures such as for parts and supplies, and interviewing prospective employees.  Problems can be anything from mechanical issues with the rig to conflicting contractor schedules to determining the funding source for a new priority well site.  Communication on the status of our efforts to others is important and I do this by attending meetings, giving presentations, and making sure our technical reports and data are shared with others.   Future planning for upcoming well sites and needed budgets are also essential, and I continuously evaluate our processes and track our progress, making changes as needed to increase efficiency.   One of my favorite parts of my job is developing employees.  Whether it’s by coaching them on their presentation for the first time or providing them training opportunities, an employee’s success is one of my top priorities.

High Impact Car Race Result

What did we do?

It was a fair test because all the group get to choose the angle we want for the slope and we all have the same car to have a fair test and we get to choose the stuff we put to our car and we have the same time to put modification to our car and we have the same track, our car's fastest time was 1.02 seconds

The first modification is this.I put clay on the front that shaped aerodynamically and i put spoiler at the back to make the forces balanced,I put shark fin near the spoiler so that it makes the car less air resistance to make the car fast.

The second modification is this.I put more clay at the back of the car to make it slower so it can stop on the green line and add more air resistance.

For the third modification we didn't change any thing and I think it will work.

The results of the race:
Our car is the 7th car on the list, our first try on our car passed the green line by the time 1.27,the second time is 1.2 seconds

Our first try on the second didn't get as close to the green line as possible because about .3 meters away from the slope but,the second one is more closer to the green line about .45 meters away from the slope.

We won the third race by 4.97 meters away from the slope.

Kete

What we have learning about:

We have been learning about the different forces and we choose the force push and pull
I found out that there are different kinds of forces and one of them is push and pull

What I have learnt is how many forces do we have
How it show my learning it shows my learning because i have insert photos of it.

Vortex canon

Aim: to see how far our vortex canon can shoot.

Equipment:

  • plastic bucket
  • garbage bag
  • sellotape
  • cardboard
  • plastic cups

Method:

1.Cut a hole at the bottom of the plastic bucket.
2.Put the garbage bag at the top of the the bucket.
3.Stick the cardboard to the bottom of the box.
4.Fit the cardboard in the bucket.

Image result for vortex cannon

Results:
The vortex cannon we made was strong and it knocked the cups 3 meters away

Discussion:
A vortex cannon can shoot cups in 3 meters.

We think that our team could improve on making the garbage bag around the bucket even more tighter, this might help us knock out the cups from a further distance.

What is the physics of the wind?

Wind is caused by weight in the air.As the cold air is heavier that warm air,The pressure of the cold air drops.

The list of good affects of the wind.

  • It pollinates the plants.
  • Wind change the weather.
  • Wind makes the windmill go.

The list of bad affects of the wind.

  • It causes tornadoes.
