High Impact

There are 2 balls: the basketball and the medicine ball

Which one will go down the first

Prediction:My Prediction is that the 5 kg medicine ball will go the first because the medicine ball is more heavier than the basketball let see if my prediction is right.

High Impact

FORCE=MASS*ACCELERATION

That is the force acting on the bucked full of water.
If you put too much water on the bucket it will break.

Statistical Investigation

In maths we try to make an investigation about the population of New Zealand at the last census 2013 but we have to predict the population of New Zealand in 2018 the year of the next census

Every student in year 8 is doing Statistical investigation we choose 11 different work but we choose the number 8 that is In 2013 (the year of the last census) there were approximately 4.4 million people living in New Zealand.  Find out more about our population and use the statistics to predict what the population of New Zealand might look like after the census this year.  E.g. Ethnicity, ages, populations of different towns and cities.

Kete Matrix

LO: To explain New Zealand s nationality and how it is been

In class we are working on Discovering the world kupe in kete.

How i think my work shows my learning:
I think my work show what i am working on

The first task i have done is Creating a diagram that shows how a hangi is constructed.

The second one is a little bit harder and it is to Draw a map of New Zealand and find out the Maori name of at least 10 main places. Explain what the name means in Maori

And the last one is the rush one because i don't have that much time so i can't finish it.and it is to Make a collage of Bi-cultural New Zealand

If i did this kete again what would i do differently i would make it faster so i can still colour it and i don't have to rush again

Forces on a Paper Planes

Aim:
To make the Paper plane that files strait and flies the longest most stable, straight line paper plane flight possible

Hypothesis
I think that my paper plane will go approximately 4.5 meters

Forces on a paper plane

Drag and Gravity

Planes that push a lot of air, like your hand did when it was facing the side, are said to have a lot of "drag," or resistance, to moving through the air. If you want your plane to fly as far as possible, you want a plane with as little drag as possible. A second force that planes need to overcome is "gravity." You need to keep your plane's weight to a minimum to help fight against gravity's pull to the ground.

Thrust and Lift

"Thrust" and "lift" are two other forces that help your plane make a long flight. Thrust is the forward movement of the plane. The initial thrust comes from the muscles of the "pilot" as the paper airplane is launched. After this, paper airplanes are really gliders, converting altitude to forward motion. Lift comes when the air below the airplane wing is pushing up harder than the air above it is pushing down. It is this difference in pressure that enables the plane to fly. Pressure can be reduced on a wing's surface by making the air move over it more quickly. The wings of a plane are curved so that the air moves more quickly over the top of the wing, resulting in an upward push, or lift, on the wing.

Methods

The video i put is the video we use to make our paper planes

Results

Our paper plane flew 5.3 meters strait.
