Model Atoms

Aim: To make a model atom.
Equipment:

  • Paper
  • Tape
  • Beads
  • Blue Tac
  • String
Method:
  1. Cut the string to about 6 inches (It doesn't matter)
  2. Collect the number of beads necessary to the atom you're making.
  3. Stick all the beads together using blue tac and turning into a spherical shape.
  4. Cut the paper into circles making one bigger than the other.
  5. Connect the beads that you turned into a circle onto the string.
  6. Tape the outer shell of the electrons to the string followed by the second shell.
  7. Then add the abbreviation of your atom.
Results:
Discussion: The three main particles of an atom are Proton, Neutrons and Electrons.
Electrons are the outer shell of the atom, also known as orbitals, they surround the nucleus. Protons and neutrons can be found in the nucleus, their size is extremely small they can't even be seen under a microscope. The charge is on this atom is 0.
