In English, we have been watching the movie hunt for the wilderpeople, we are learning to think critically to identify and describe the key aspects of a visual text.

Today in English, we have been doing some story mapping, to outline the story that I chose from another country. We were asked to pick a letter from A-Z and I picked the letter J because that is the first letter in my name, and I chose the country Jamaica.

What Is the purpose of the story?
I think the purpose of the story is to tell people don't be greedy because greedy people are punished.

What am I learning?
I am learning how to outline the story I read.

How does this work show my learning?
This work shows my learning by producing an outline of the story 'Legend of the golden table'

What am I wandering?
I'm wondering if there are other stories that link to the story of 'The legend of the golden table' in different countries from around the world.

SSR- Read Theory

In English, we have been doing read theory. Today I learnt that every person has different taste in colour, not all of us has the same favourite colour. I also learnt that green is in a lot of colours on earth like frogs, leaves, snakes, turtles, emeralds and jade.

Today in English we had a free choice of what we want to do for 10 minutes.

I chose to do Read Theory, Read Theory is a type of reading quiz, you answer something and it will automatically choose your reading grade if you perfected your score and got 100% you will go to the next grade, also the teacher could see what you did on your quiz. Today, I got up to grade 6, 830L, my progress level is "Naturalist", it is the 6th level.

Today in English I chose to read "Facts Slide".

What I read:
Today I read facts about coffee.

Age suitable:
In my opinion what I read is best suit for 10 years old and above.

What is it about:
It is about information about coffee.

Facts I found interesting:

• Brazil has been the largest producer of coffee for the last 150 years.
• Americans spend an average of US$1,092 on coffee each year.
• The word "coffee" comes from the Arabic for "wine of the bean".
• In the beginning, Starbucks only sold roasted whole coffee beans.

What I read:

I read facts about space.

What I read is best suitable for teenagers and above.

What is it about:

It is about information about space and what is it like.

Facts I found interesting:

• According to astronauts, space smells like seared steak, hot metal and welding fumes.
• Astronauts of Internation Space Station Witnesses around 15 sunrises and 15 sunsets every day.
• Most astronauts became 2 inches taller in space.
• There is a water reservoir floating in space that is equivalent to 140 trillion times all the water in the worlds ocean.
• On the International Space Station, urine passes through a special water treatment plant that turns it into drinking water.
•  NASA is developing 3D pizzas for astronauts.

Today in English we had 10 minutes of silent reading and I chose to read "Facts Slides".

What I read:

I read facts about gold, there are a lot of facts that I didn't know about gold.

Some facts I found interesting:

• Your hair contains traces of gold.
• Gold is edible.
• Our bodies contain about 0.2 milligrams of gold, most of it is in our blood.
• Earthquakes turn water into gold.
• Injecting gold into the body could help fight cancer.

Age suitable:

It is suitable for age 10 and above.

What is it about:

It is about information about gold.
