Panel 2 Update

My panel 2 in art is somewhat finished. I have been given feedback by miss Keene to try and bring orange colour for panel 2 to start panel 3. Here is a screenshot of my panel 2.

Panel 3 Draft

In art, I have decided to go with a more rectangle/square type of building architecture in panel 3. With this, I have edited some of my images and have made a bit of progress. This is my progress at the moment.

Art panel 2 Extended thinking

For art, I have decided to go with the feedback I have been given by Miss Keene and Miss Clemence. they have commented that I should stick to the idea of Arch for panel 2. That is why I have decided to work with the photographs I have and crop out different parts of any architecture with arches.

Art Panel 2 Progress

In Art for panel 2, I have decided to go with arched patterns within my images. For this, I chose to focus on Vivian Maier as my photographer on this panel.

Here is a screenshot of my panel 2 draft:

And here is a screenshot of the look I am trying to achieve.

To achieve this look, I would have to include people in the image to mimick her photographic style.

Blog post 11 (ART)

In art we are tasked to choose one photographer from our previous blog (blog post 5). For this blog, I have chosen André Kertész as my artist.

André Kertész works by 'walking around' his subjects and observing the subject from different angles. And then he arranges them in a composition that looks pleasing to his eye. For the series of images I have taken, I have copied his style of work. I walked around the subject and arranged it in a way that looks pleasing in my opinion.

Here are the images that I have taken.

I have chosen these images because for these particular images, I had to walk around and look for different angles to portray these buildings in a way that looks not only pleasing but unique.

Blogpost 9

In Art, we are tasked to create or fake a darkroom in class. With this task, we try to mimic the vintage look of images using photoshop.

Here is my attempt at trying to mimic this look.

To achieve this look, I have chosen a photo I took of an old building and I have overlayed it ontop of a scratched piece of metal to create the same effect.

Blog post five

In art, we are tasked to choose one traditional, one contemporary and one Aotearoa artist. These are the artists I have chosen.

In this image, Andre has used a monochromatic colour profile in his image. The use of this technique has greatly improved the dramatics of the photograph.

For this image, the artist has chosen a vibrant colour for the edited look of the final image.

In this image, the artist has chosen to compose a balanced image where the centre is the focus of the whole image. This has been contrasted because the centre has a bright light but the outer rims are dark.

Steps in art for panel 1

This is my first draft for my folio. However, I think it doesn't work quite well.

That is why I decided to remove the second layer of images because it doesn't seem to work together.

Peer Critique

Today in art, we have gathered together to critique and give feedforward on each other's photographs.

For this critique, I have made some notes. These notes are:

  • Try to look at different artists like David Hillard, William Eggleston and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
  • Look into geometrics eg. shape/line.
  • Consider adding abstract patterns.
  • Connection of lines within the photograph.
  • Start with black and white and try to introduce colour.
  • Look at building shadows which can create interesting patterns.
  • Try to look at the different textures of the buildings.
  • Add contrast to the images.

Blog post 7

For art, we are tasked to edit and create different looks in our photographs.

Here are my edited images:

Building 1 Edit 1

Building 1 Edit 2

Buidling 1 Edit 3

Critique: In the first series of photographs, the edit number 2 is the best looking image. This is true because the image on the first edit looks flat.

Building 2 Edit 1

Building 2 Edit 2

Building 2 Edit 3

Critique: In this second image. The edit number 1 is the best looking as it is the only image with the most contrast and most detail in the building. It isn't over exposed. Edit number 2 is to flat.

Building 3 Edit 1

Building 3 Edit 2

Building 3 Edit 3

Critique:

For this particular image, edit number 3 goes well. This is because it creates a certain mood in the overall look of the photograph. It is also the image with the most balance as it lacks colour, it creates balance in the busyness of the overall image.

Blog post 6 ( photogram )

What is the most successful and why?

In the photogram I took, I think the successful part is the part where I put the newspaper which adds a layer of interest to the bland first photo.

What were you trying to achieve when you created these?
For this photogram, I was trying to put together different layers and create a layer of nature and man-made things.

What are your next steps?
My next step in this task is to create more interesting layers within the photogram and increase the contrast of the whole look.
