Maths Craft 22/11/18

This week in maths craft we have been doing string art and meander art.

String Art is a pattern that is created using string, using a wood, hammer and nails you hammer your design with nails and then put the string together to create a pattern or design.

Meander art is a type of pattern continuously being repeated to create a lined pattern. using a paper template you can create your own design.

Maths Crafts

Today in Maths craft we did some origami and flexagons, we were given lots of paper to make some origami, we made hexaflexagon, hexahexaflexagon, tetraflexagon and Senobi cube.

New Zealand Music Research

In music, we are have been researching New Zealand song artist and I've got the Zed band.
While we are researching we get to listen to their songs. While I was listening to their songs, their songs got stuck on my brain, although it wasn't particularly my liking. The song that I like is their song "Renegade Fighter" the way they sang the song gives me goosebumps especially the chorus part.

English - Hunt for the Wilderpeople

In English, we have been watching the movie hunt for the wilderpeople, we are learning to think critically to identify and describe the key aspects of a visual text.

Music - Reflection

In Music, we had finished our submission for the Fair go ad Awards. Some of us are doing the editing of our ad. The people that are editing put the video together and make it fit into 30 seconds limit.

Mu Torere

Today in Technology our teacher talked about our next project. Our next topic in technology is about the game mu torere,  mu torere is a game which is played by two people. the game objective is to prevent the opponent from being able to move.

Raising a plant

Aim:
To look at the different growing conditions and how these affect the growth of seeds.

Method:

• We worked in groups of 3 - 4.
• We put the potting mix into the cups.
• We planted radish seeds in each cups.
• Each one of the cups had different growing conditions.
• Cup 1 - normal
• Cup 2 - red cellophane
• Cup 3 - overwatered
• Cup 4 - blue cellophane
• Cup 5 - clear cellophane

Findings:

The plant grew in their cups for 10 days before they were measured

Plant growing condition	Height after 10 days (mm)
Normal	30.6mm
Blue cellophane	60.1mm
Red cellophane	70mm
Overwatered	10mm

The normal seedling was planted in a normal potting mix and grew to a height of _60.9_mm.

The blue cellophane seedling was planted in a normal potting mix, covered in blue cellophane and watered. It grew to a height of _10_mm. The red cellophane seedling was planted in the normal potting mix to a height of _70_mm. The overwatered seedling was planted in a normal potting mix, the water could not drain out the bottom of the pot and it grew to a height of _10_mm.

Conclusion:

From the pictures and evidence, we can conclude that:

The seedling height was:

1. Red cellophane - 70mm

2.Blue cellophane - 60.1mm

3.Normal - 30.6mm

4.Overwatered - 10mm

The best growing conditions were:

1. Red cellophane

2.Blue cellophane

3.Normal

4.Overwatered

therefore the seedling with _the red cellophane_ conditions grew to a height of _70_mm.

1. blue light - 60.9mm
2. overwatered - 10 mm
3. red light - 70 mm
4. normal - 30mm
5. clear cellophane - 60mm

Today in English, we have been doing some story mapping, to outline the story that I chose from another country. We were asked to pick a letter from A-Z and I picked the letter J because that is the first letter in my name, and I chose the country Jamaica.

What Is the purpose of the story?
I think the purpose of the story is to tell people don't be greedy because greedy people are punished.

What am I learning?
I am learning how to outline the story I read.
